How to Report Power Outage/Failure to KPLC


Despite significant efforts to connect more Kenyans to the national grid, power outages or failures still occur in various areas. If you encounter such an issue, except in cases of planned power interruptions, you can report it using the following methods:

1. Report KPLC Power Outage via USSD:

  • Dial *977#.
  • Select option 4: “Report incidences”.
  • Choose option 1: “Power outage”.
  • Select option 1 for prepaid.
  • If your meter is not available, add a new meter number.
  • Choose the cause of the outage from the menu.
  • After completion, you’ll receive a complaint number.

2. Report KPLC Power Outage via KPLC App:

  • Download and install the KPLC Power app from the Play Store.
  • Launch the app and click on “Report power failure” tab.
  • Submit details including your Account reference/Meter number, phone number, scope, nature of the complaint, and description/location details.
  • Click on “Send” after inputting the information.
  • Confirm the power failure report when prompted.
  • Upon successful submission, you’ll receive a complaint number.

3. Report KPLC Power Outage via Social Media:

  • Reach out to KPLC’s official social media channels:
    • Facebook: @KenyaPowerLtd
    • Twitter: @KenyaPower_Care
    • Instagram: @kenyapower
