National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Assesses Landslide Disaster in Obanliku LGA of Cross River State

NEMA South South Zone carried out an on-the-spot assessment of a landslide disaster which originated from the Ejua Mountain and affected seven communities of Etsong, Ejua, Bikaa, Bufore, Bunyia, Begore and Bendigie in Busi clan, Obanliku LGA of Cross River State.

The joint assessment team was led by Fortunatus Anyanwu (ACSARO). The other members were the community leaders Chief Ololo (community head), Sunday Akare (youth leader). Others were David Biyou, Amos Bechuo, Justin Bieba and representative of Obanliku Local Government Council Mr. John Adie who conducted the team round the affected communities to ascertain the level of destruction and devastation faced by the affected communities.

The incident which occurred on 14:10:2022 caused the displacement of about 1,951 persons and affected about 100 houses including Schools and milling equipment which were completely buried inside the ground.
