1. Prepare your MS Excel by-product: Prepare your MS Excel by-product file in the required NHIF format, using Kenya’s most recent NHIF rates.
2. Login to NHIF online portal
Navigate to the NHIF employer resource and sign in using your employer code and password.
3 .Upload NHIF ByProduct
Once logged in, click the ‘browse’ button and navigate to your computer’s saved excel by-product file.
4. Validate and Submit NHIF ByProduct
Then, select ‘Validate ByProduct’. This will download and display the contents of your MS Excel file on your screen. The NHIF system will highlight any detected errors in red.
If there are no errors, click ‘Submit Byproduct.’
5. Print, Pay and File a copy
The NHIF online system will generate a byproduct number with the option to PRINT.
Print this and take it to the nearest branch of the following banks: National Bank, Co-op Bank, KCB, and Equity Bank.
Keep the banking slip safe as proof of payment in case of a payroll audit.
To avoid penalties for late returns, make your monthly returns by the 9th of each month.
