The processing time for a Kenyan national ID could take up to two months. As a result, you should start monitoring its progress immediately after this. In this article, we have the necessary steps to help you to know if your ID is ready for pick-up.

After completing the application process for a national identity card, the applicant must wait for the identity card to be processed. The period usually takes six to eight weeks. The candidate is expected to have their waiting card, which serves as their national identification card, on them during that period.

Previously, the applicant would sit down and wait until the waiting period was over before going to the district officer’s office to determine whether or not their identity card had been processed.

When an application hasn’t been processed, applicants are frequently advised to wait longer. As a result, applicants had to make pointless journeys to and from the District Officer’s office to obtain the identity card.

 Method 1: Check Online

You can accomplish this by sending a text message or doing it online. To check online, go to http://www.identity.go.ke/search.html using an internet connection. The requirement is to provide the first nine numbers of the applicant’s identity card’s serial number.

Method 2: SMS

Using SMS is quite the most straightforward method that you can use to check the status of your ID. You will be charged Ksh 5  directly from your Airtime. If there is a delay, resubmit the message and wait for up to three days before trying again. Message your Id serial number to 20031

 Method 3: Using email

If the prior options have failed to go through, you can try using mail. You  contact the Identity card specialist co-ops using their official email address info@identity.go.ke. However, we do not advise using this method as it takes time to get feedback on your inquiries.

Method 4: Huduma Centre

Huduma Centre has proven useful in the past years, especially for many Kenyans living in rural areas who want to access government services. Only your ID Waiting card is required to check the progress of your national ID at the closest Huduma Center.
