Larry Madowo Questions Kenyans Over Illegal Waste Dumping

CNN worldwide correspondent Larry Madowo has slammed Kenyans over the behavior of dumping waste within the streets of Nairobi, stressing that they need to not place the blame on the federal government over the soiled atmosphere.

Madowo’s assertion comes at a time when the Nairobi county authorities has intensified its crackdown on unlawful waste dumping in a bid to revive the environmental atmosphere within the capital.

In an announcement on Saturday, June 21, the Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria claimed that his division has deployed a crew that can see the thorough cleansing of huge markets, beginning with Gikomba markets, which, based on him, generate a considerable amount of waste.

“This hole has considerably affected our operations, resulting in the buildup of rubbish throughout the town, as our present inner capability isn’t ample to handle the over 3,500 tonnes of waste generated day by day, most of it being natural,”  Mosiria stated.

Furthermore, Mosiria has introduced that it has launched an operation that can determine and shut down all illegal dumping websites throughout the town.

Additionally, the county authorities has additional launched a crackdown on Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and personal waste assortment service suppliers who’re dumping their waste at illegal websites.

According to Mosiria, the county authorities will revoke the licenses of any CBO or non-public operator caught dumping their waste unlawfully.
