Commenting on the achievement on Sunday, 3 August 2025, Transport Minister Barbara Creecy and the Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa stated in a joint assertion that they “welcomed the department’s clean audit”, stating that it was “a step in the right direction towards a fully accountable and clean administration”.
“This is the first time in 31 years that the Department has achieved a clean audit outcome,” the assertion stated.
The Department stated the clear audit was primarily based on the Auditor-General’s opinion and conclusions within the following areas for the monetary yr 2024/25:
