“First, he launched the Martin Luther King Jr. recordsdata. Then he accused Obama of treason. And now he desires to prosecute Oprah and Beyonce?”

Williams — who was a correspondent on The Daily Show from 2012 to 2016 and has since made visitor appearances — sat down with host Jon Stewart for a section that blended biting humor with political commentary.

Williams’ tone did shift barely as she thought of that, as a well-known Black particular person herself, she too may very well be a future goal. When host Jon Stewart assured her there was nothing to be “nervous” about, she hit again: “Excuse me? He received’t come after me? What, I’m not an distinctive sufficient Black particular person for Trump? Hmm? I’m not well-known sufficient to be publicly accused of treason or doing 9/11? You don’t know the place I used to be that day. You don’t know me. I’m sorry, however I’m nominated for an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy.”

She quipped that she was well-known sufficient to “no less than be accused of misdemeanor election fraud, you butthead.”

When Stewart acquiesced and questioned whether or not the thought of being focused nervous her, Williams didn’t sweat it: “Because if there’s one factor previous white guys love, it’s getting a praise from a Black particular person.”

Well, let’s not generalize, Stewart mentioned, earlier than Williams proved her level by complimenting his haircut; naturally, Stewart folded instantly.
