Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Deputy Elijah Ming, 34, was fatally shot on Saturday whereas responding to a home violence name in Kansas City, Kansas, authorities confirmed.
According to Chief Karl Oakman of the Kansas City Police Department, Deputy Ming and a Kansas City police officer arrived on the southwest Kansas City residence round 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Without warning, the suspect opened fireplace, hanging Deputy Ming. The police officer was unhurt.
Other officers shortly responded to the capturing. The suspect, recognized as 38-year-old Shawn Harris, continued firing on the responding officers, who returned fireplace. Harris was wounded within the alternate and barricaded himself inside the house.

Kansas City Mayor Tyrone Gardner visited Ming’s household on the hospital and requested the neighborhood to maintain them of their ideas, stating,
“There are not any phrases or consolation that may ever ease the ache of shedding somebody you like to mindless violence.”
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is main the investigation and can ahead findings to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office for potential fees.
