A political standoff erupted in Subukia on Sunday, July 20, 2025, after cops blocked a convoy of politicians allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The convoy was stopped by cops shortly after they attended a church service at AIC Subukia in Nakuru County.

The staff, led by Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, was stopped at a police roadblock minutes after leaving the church grounds.

Further, in line with movies seen by The Kenya Times, a bunch of uniformed officers ordered the leaders to cease, resulting in a tense confrontation alongside the highway.



Police and the Convoy Engage in Heated Argument

The incident drew massive crowds because the altercation unfolded, with some residents filming the change on their telephones.



Malala Speaks During Service 

Speaking earlier through the church service at AIC Subukia, Malala and his staff claimed that they had confronted makes an attempt to dam them from collaborating in worship.

On the opposite hand, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo alleged that the church management had acquired directions to not enable them to talk or fellowship with the congregation.

Ngogoyo criticised what he termed state interference in non secular areas.

“While the President is worshipping at an AIC church in Machakos, we’re being disrupted right here in Subukia. Freedom of worship is assured within the Constitution. Let nobody use energy to divide the church,” he stated. 

Malala additionally took to social media earlier within the day to share pictures of the service.
